nesting chapters 1 & 2

so while i was away at officer's training school, emily got the jump on her nesting activities. if you frequent the blog, you've already seen the ninja she made a little while back. but add to that list, three stuffed owls, a matching quilt, crib bumpers, and a bed skirt.

needless to say, i was way behind on my nesting.

since our crib that we ordered arrived this afternoon, i decided to play a little catch up.

my $10 dorm room style tool set from many years ago did the job fine.

with some help from emily, we completed the crib assembly task. i think it turned out well...

and since many have asked about emily's sewing projects, i'll showcase them for her. you can see below shots of both the bumpers she made and the sweet owl quilt.

i still think it's funny that we had the crib and car seat ordered and delivered this week. it's a good thing we have that out of the way since we only have three more months before our little boy greets his new room.

so i believe that completes my nesting chapter 1 and emily's nesting chapter 2 (at least)...

Nesting is fun! I really like your crib...and ESPECIALLY like Emily's creations: quilt, crib pads etc.
Peter, you look great!...very domestic. This is a great stage of life. ENJOY!

those pictures were very suspicious. I'd double-check the workmanship on that crib and make sure that the assembly isn't faulty. BOOM! Roasted.

Oh, Petey... I'm sure you did the job with perfection with those boot-camp trained, dentistry detail-oriented fingers of yours. Lucky baby!

Love the bedding, Emily. You were busy busy. I'd love to see the stuffed owl! Hopefully your baby won't bee too affected by the surroundings and take on nocturnal characteristics. !!!

Nice work, you guys! What does it say that we still have no crib, quilts or bumper sets after TWO kids?!? Geesh. How about Emily comes up and does a little after-the-fact nesting for us?!? Now that Sydney climbs out of the pack and play, we've got to do something fancy like a crib.

CUTE! I am so impressed. Where did you find the owl fabric? I love it. And I like your crib too. It looks like one that converts to a toddler bed...? I also want to see the stuffed owl. Good work you two!

Emily, I am VERY impressed with your taste and workmanship. Looks like something I might pick out (we're the same)! It's great you got that out of the way by third trimester...I was only weeks away when I completed my set and was cursing the entire time.

jill. i got the fabric in the fabric district, downtown LA at a store called michael levine's. it is the biggest fabric store i have ever seen--they really have everything. but the owl material, as well as the green material from the middle section of my quilt is made by timeless treasures fabrics, inc. and yes, our crib is a convertible toddler bed, and it even converts to a regular twin bed. (hopefully it will last that long!)

oops. that comment was from emily :)

It will either last that long or you'll need it for a crib again for the next one. :)

Nice work you two...Emily, that bedding is amazing. I think cute boy bedding is hard to come by, so you're smart to just create your own! I really do love the owl print.
